Ask a Minister

~ A place to find answers to gnawing spiritual questions ~

Question: What does it mean when people say the heart? Are they talking about the heart in your chest, or the heart in your mind? They say to ask Jesus into your heart in your chest. Now that is the way they have been brought up. The heart is in the mind. Give me your answer.

Answer: The heart in our chest is a muscle made to pump the blood throughout our bodies.

The heart that Christians speak about is that place that God made in humans for Him to abide. Too many people fill that place, made for Him, with all kinds of sinful things, allowing Satan to fill their "hearts and minds" with pleasures that displease God. The real heart of man (that special part) was designed so when we repent and turn our lives over to God, He can fill it with His love and His will for our lives.

We must take good care of all of our body parts as we are the temple of the Holy Ghost, we are not our own, we are bought with a price. Jesus died for us so we could be filled with His presence (I Cor. 6:19 & 20).

I pray this has helped you to differentiate between the "hearts" of man.
