~ A place to find answers to gnawing spiritual questions ~
Question: Why did they take off their sandals?Answer: This act is found basically two times in Scripture; Exodus 3:5 and Joshua 5:15. Basically this seems to be more or less a symbol of reverence and respect, much the same way a man would take his hat off when entering a building. Inner devotion and respect manifests itself in outward actions. Sometimes people may be overwhelmed by the presence and glory of God and not necessarily know what to do. Thus, they must be told to take off their shoes. I hope this helps.
