Question: Why did they take off their sandals?Answer:
This act is found basically two times in Scripture; Exodus 3:5 and Joshua 5:15. Basically this seems to be more or less a symbol of reverence and respect, much the same way a man would take his hat off when entering a building. Inner devotion and respect manifests itself in outward actions. Sometimes people may be overwhelmed by the presence and glory of God and not necessarily know what to do. Thus , they must be told to take off their shoes. I hope this helps.
