Ask a Minister

~ A place to find answers to gnawing spiritual questions ~

Question: I hope you can help me out here. I was not able to find the answer. Why is there seemingly a contradiction in Acts 9:7 with Acts 22:9? Is it a translation problem, or different authorship problem? It is the same context and same situation the Apostle Paul is explaining, but the seeing and hearing occurrence is contradicting. Please help.

Answer: There is no contradiction in these two statements. In Acts 9:7, they heard a voice but it was NOT the voice of Jesus who was speaking to Saul. In Acts 22:9, the Holy Spirit was careful to bring that point out. The voice they did hear in Acts 9:7 was the voice of an angel conversing with the Lord. This has happened on a few occasions as recorded in the Holy Writ. See Revelation 1:1-2 and Hebrews 13:2.

The Bible is a supernatural book and some things WILL have to be revealed by the Spirit.
