Ask a Minister

~ A place to find answers to gnawing spiritual questions ~

Question: Why do I feel such condemnation when I read the Bible? I feel so anxious and afraid. I have been a Christian for years, but only recently re-dedicated my life to Christ. But all I get when I read the Bible is fear . . . . . . please help me.

Answer:

This is certainly not the will of your loving God for you: The Word says, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). He has offered you complete forgiveness from sin, never to remember them against you any more. Are you fully accepting God's offer to you? You must know and believe that there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ. Is there sin that has not been confessed and forsaken by you? If so, you must deal with that. Otherwise, this is an attack by the enemy of your soul, Satan. "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7).

Do you attend a good Bible believing church? If you do, go to your pastor, and ask him to help you.

I will pray for you that God will give you peace (Philippians 4:6-7; John 14:27; John 16:33).
