Ask a Minister

~ A place to find answers to gnawing spiritual questions ~

Question: I am researching about Satan and how much power he has over us and everything like that. I have tried every thing to find something about it and can't find anything. Can you help me find any answers or websites?

Answer: Satan is limited in his power, as was in the case of Job, a man in the Old Testament. He was permitted only to afflict him so far. However, when we get to the New Testament, we see the very powerful scripture, Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the World. There is a conflict of two powers in our world, Satan is the god of this world, notice small g. God (the heavenly Father) is called the God of Heaven, is all powerful. When Satan opposed him he was cast down as lightening from heaven. It has been said that Satan would rather rule from hell, than to serve from Heaven, and that is why he fell. He was once a servant angel, but he went from a servant to a serpent, He is defeated, because on the cross, Jesus defeated Satan and spoiled principalities and made a show of them openly.
