Question: My salvation is certain. Trials are preparing me, therefore, with joy I count them profitable. My question is: What will we do in heaven? What disciplines developed today, make me useful for eternity?Answer: Thank God for your salvation!
WARNING: The question "What will we do in Heaven?" is loaded with possibilities and is extremely exciting to me personally.
FIRST: Let me say what I think we will not do in Heaven. I think we will NOT sit around on clouds, playing harps. Ugh! How boring this would become after about 30 minutes.
SECOND: I am not at all interested in taking off my shoes/sandals and wading in the River of Life.
THIRD: It is common knowledge among Bible scholars that we are to come back to this earth a few years after the rapture of the saints to rule and reign with Christ for at least 1,000 years (Revelation 2:25-27; Revelation 20:1-15). There are many, many more scriptures dealing with the future that I cannot deal with here.
I believe the Great God we serve has planned a dynamic and exciting eternity for us. With His Power, wisdom, ability, how could it be any other way?
For instance, consider the billions-upon-billions of stars. Why are they there? Remember the One who made them was very careful to not waste any leftovers when He fed the 5,000. Then consider that all of the stars have names, and God calls them by name. (Isaiah 40:25-26)
Again, why are they there, and what part will they play in eternity? Since I have no proof, I will keep quiet about what I think.
Since this subject is inexhaustible and I am not, I had better quit. Just let me say that our future is awesome.
