Lesson 15 - What About the Judgment? (Text Version)

How Many Judgments Are There? When? Where? Of whom?

The Judgment of Believers for rewards or lack of merit for rewards. (Cont'd.)

3. The Judgment of the Believer's Sins in the person of Christ - already past.
Revelation 11:18: "And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. "
Revelation 20:4: "And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years."
Revelation 22:12: "And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be."

Rewards of the righteous - What are they?

Daniel 12:3: "They that be wise shall sine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever." 1 Corinthians 15:41-42: "There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead."

  1. The parable of the pounds ( Luke 19:12-28) and the parable of the talents ( Matthew 25:14-30 represent varying degrees of rewards.
  2. Paul speaks of a crown of righteousness which all that love his appearing will receive (2 Timothy 4:7-8).
  3. The rewards of the overcomers in Revelation 1-3:
  • To eat of the tree of live in the midst of the Paradise of God (Revelation 2:7).
  • Crown of life (Revelation 2:10).
  • Eat of the hidden manna (Revelation 2:17).
  • Be given a white stone, a new name written which only they who receive it know (Revelation 2:17).
  • Power over the nations. He shall rule them with a rod of iron (Revelation 2:25-27).
  • They shall walk before me in white for they are worthy (Revelation 3:4).
  • I will not blot his name out of the book of life (Revelation 3:5).
  • I will confess his name before my Father and before His angels (Revelation 3:5).
  • Will be kept from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
  • I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God; he shall go no more out (Revelation 3:12).
  • I will write upon him the name of God and the name of the city of God -- New Jerusalem and the Lord's new name.
  • Grant to sit with Jesus on His throne (Revelation 3:21).

4. The Great White Throne Judgment.

Revelation 20:5: "The rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished..." (Revelation 20:11-15). "And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
"And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
"And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. this is the second death.
"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

5. The Judgment of Angels.

Jude 6: "The angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day." 2 Peter 3:5: "God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment."
1 Corinthians 6:3: "Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?"

"Please tell me more."
