Question: I am engaged to a non-Christian. We are committed to working together despite the differences in our beliefs. Is it a sin for me to marry him?Answer:
The fact that you asked about this matter shows that you must have some doubt about the situation you are in.
From the Scriptures themselves, the answer is that you should not marry this person (2 Corinthians 6:14-18).
However, I would ask you first to confront your fiancą about being a Christian. Two cannot walk together unless they be agreed. Next to your salvation, marriage is the most important and far reaching decision of your life, and one which also reaches into the eternal destiny of your fiancą and the children that may come about through this marriage. If he refuses to trust in Christ as his Savior, and you marry him anyway, you are on two different roads; one leading to eternal salvation, and the other to eternal condemnation.
Since you have a desire to have a husband, and in most people this is a legitimate desire, it is of the utmost importance that you marry in accordance with God's will. The Word of God is clear that marriage is until death do you part. You cannot undo a bad decision later on without sad results down the road of life; not only to yourself, but to others as well. You need to ask God if this is Mr. Right. God will guide you if you are willing to listen and do God's will. If it is necessary to break with this man, remember that God has something better for you. Please do not rationalize this matter. You cannot marry an unsaved man and please God.
I will pray for you that you do the right thing.
