Question: I don't really know Jesus, I kind of feel that I want to have a relationship with God only, as he is the kind of 'creator of all'. Is there a problem with this? Are Jesus and God different?

Answer: I am so glad that you want to know God. He is real, and He really loves you Tania!!! How do we know that He loves us? He said in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." To know God, you have to accept His only begotten Son- Jesus Christ. Jesus is God's Son, but Jesus is also God. There is God the Father, God the Son & God the Holy Spirit. Please read Matthew 28:18-20 and 1 John 5:7.

Without getting too deep into the subject, I want to tell you that Jesus died on the cross for all of our sins. We deserve death (physical and eternal). All have sinned and come short of God's glory (Romans 3:23). We all deserve eternal judgment in hell because we have offended God by our unrighteousness. Even if we all just commit one sin, though sinners sin all the time, we would still deserve God's wrath.

Jesus, the eternal Son of God came to earth to fix the problem of our sin and its judgment. He became a man over 2000 years ago, through the virgin birth of Mary, and He was sinless. He lived a sinless life for 33 years and was finally hung on a cross for no other reason then that He was hated by sinful men. So there on the cross, He shed His blood and He took all of man's punishment for sin. Sin must be punished, and Jesus took it for those who would believe on Him and accept the gift of salvation. The condition that God has set for us, is that we must accept this sacrifice of Jesus by faith. God wants us to be sorry for our sins (repentance), this proves that we really believe what God says about us as sinners. Then God wants us to receive Jesus as our Savior from sin (John 1:12).

The way to do this is by praying to Jesus and sincerely asking Him to forgive you for all the sins that you have ever committed. The wonderful thing that He will! Then ask Him to come into your heart by faith, and He will (Please read Romans 10:9-10) "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

This act of receiving Christ will fulfill all your desires about the supernatural and will give you a peace and a power for living that you never dreamed possible. Jesus is truly Wonderful.

There is a great book that I would encourage you to read: It is 'Mere Christianity' by C.S. Lewis. Also, if you can afford it, I recommend a study Bible called the Full-Life Study Bible in the King James Version. Then start to read the gospels in the Bible, they are Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Start with Mark, it is the shortest. You will need to try and find a Bible Believing church in your area. I would advise you look for a full gospel church or a Pentecostal church that believes in the trinity - God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. May God bless you as you begin your new life in Jesus Christ as you accept Him as your Lord and Savior! (2 Corinthians 5:17).
