Lesson 7 - What Is Forgiveness? (Cont'd.) (Text Version)

The Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13; Luke 11:1-4).

One part of the Lord's prayer says forgive us as we forgive. Jesus then added, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. " Therefore if we want God to forgive us, we must also be willing to forgive others for wrongs they have done against us.

Psalm 32:1:
"Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered."

A Good Prayer To Pray in Asking God's Forgiveness:

Read it in Psalm 51.

Comments:
  1. Ask for mercy.
  2. Acknowledge God's loving kindness and tender mercies.
  3. Ask God to blot them out, wash thoroughly and cleanse from sin's defilement.
  4. Acknowledge transgressions and sin (ever before me).
    Against Thee
That God might be justified when He speaks.
Shapened in iniquity, conceived in sin.

  6. Wisdom in the hidden parts.
  7. Purge me; wash me.
  8. Hide your face; blot out.
  9. Create in me a clean heart; renew a right spirit in me.
  10. Cast me not away from thy presence.
  11. Take not away from me your Holy Spirit (perhaps David was thinking of what happened to Saul.

  13. Then:
Joy, gladness, bones rejoice, tongue sing aloud of God's righteousness.
Sinners shall be converted to God.
Mouth shall show forth God's praise.
  14. Regarding sacrifices and offerings.

"Please tell me more."
