Lesson 27 - Bible Instructions and Examples for Children and Youth (Text Version)

Little Children: (Cont'd.)

    5. It is well that early in the lives of children that they learn and then experience the truths that are written in the Scriptures given above:

    1. Those who are children need to also, by their own choice, become the children of God.
    2. That the world is wicked and that for their benefit in this life as well as the next they have need to overcome the evil that is in it and that only if they have the Lord as their own personal Lord and Savior will they be able to overcome the evil.
    3. That although they should learn to say to their parents and others "I love you," that is not enough but love should be shown by deeds and by truth.
    4. That it is those who live right who are righteous, not those who claim to be religious or go to church.
    5. That Jesus will return to this earth and they, too, must stand in His presence, and it will be only if they are in Christ and abide in him will they have confidence and not be ashamed.
    6. That it is the last days, that the antichrist will soon appear, and that there are antichrists in the earth now.
    7. That God, through the apostles, has written many good things unto us who are the children of God.
    8. That children need to experience and know that their "sins are forgiven for His name's sake."
    9. That children need to know that God has given us the Bible so that we will not displease him by sinning or doing things that are wrong and evil and that if they do sin, Jesus died, arose from the dead, ascended into heaven and is at the right of the Father to intercede for them, if they will confess and turn away from practicing sin.
    10. That we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil, by observing which ones live right according to the Bible and love others.
    11. That the people who are sinning with their tongues, with evil things in their hearts, and by using their bodies for other filthy sins will have no part in the kingdom of Christ and of God, and that God's anger and wrath will come upon them.
    12. That they can be children of God, children of light, and not children of the devil, children of disobedience, and children of wrath, as the Scriptures speak of.

Can you see how that if children from an early age are taught and learn these things, they can be different and save themselves from many sorrows in this fife and in the world to come. It did so with me.

Children Need To Know:

  1. That Jesus loves them and invites them to come to Him while they are children. "Jesus said, Suffer (permit) little children, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 19:14).
  2. That God has said to adults, "Whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me" (Matthew 18:5). He has also warned them, "But whoso shall offend (cause to stumble or sin) one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea" (Matthew 18:6). "Take heed that ye despise not one of these little one" (Matthew 18:10).
  3. That little children who belong to the Lord have angels who are in the presence of God for them. "For I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 18:10).
  4. That they and every individual is accountable to God for their own sins.

"The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity (sin) of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. All his transgressions (sins) that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live. Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God- and not that he should return from his ways, and live?" (Ezekiel 18:20-23).
