2. He trained and taught them as he worked and did miracles.
- The storms on the Sea of Galilee
(Matthew 8:23-27; 14:22-33).
- Withering of the fig tree (Matthew 21:17-22).
3. He taught them in parables, not just in a class setting but as he walked through the fields and other places.
- The Sower and the Seed (Matthew 13).
- Viewing the sunset (Matthew 16:1-5).
4. He used various events to teach important things.
- Meeting the woman at the well of Samaria (John 4).
- His transfiguration (Matthew 17:1-13).
- At the foot of the mountain, coming down from the transfiguration - where the disciples were unable to cast out the demon (Matthew 17:14-21).
- The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7).
- The raising of Lazarus from the dead (John 11).
- The triumphal entry into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1 -11).
- The cleansing of the temple (Matthew 21:12-16).
- His last Passover Supper with His disciples (John 13-17).
- His praying and His arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-56).
- His trial before the Sanhedren and before Pilate (Matthew 26:57 - 27:23).
- His crucifixion (Matthew 27:26-54).
- His meetings with them after His resurrection (John 20, 21; Acts 1).
5. Jesus taught them when John's disciples and His own disciples asked questions.
- "Why do we (the disciples of John) fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?" (Matthew 9:14).
- "Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?" (Matthew 11:3).
- "Declare unto us the parable" (Matthew 13:36).
- "Knowest thou that THE Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?" (Matthew 15:12).
- "Is it because we have taken no bread?" (Matthew 16:7).
- "Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?" (Matthew 17:10).
- "Why could not we cast him out?" (Matthew 17:19).
- "Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times" (Matthew 18:21).
